Floatation
Human bodies were designed to live and work in environments free from the rush of technology, the roar of media, the rabazabar of too many voices, and the flashes of urgent information. We function by “tuning out” a lot of the stimuli - it’s a brain function similar to turning a volume dial. In a floatation environment, the outside stimulation is mostly gone. You lay back in salt water that allows floatation easily. The water is heated to the same temperature as your body, so you can’t feel the water if you become still enough. You are in a closed tank, so there’s no light or sound. And then your brain searches for stimulation and turns up that volume dial so that your senses are “on” instead of tuned out. The effect can be amazing.
Floatation is an experience of another kind. It is a quiet place in a world of noise. It is a time of stillness away from the rush and pressure of the day. We held up our heads the day we were born and most of us never again relaxed our neck until they floated.
Elevate the floating experience by pairing it with massage therapy or an infrared sauna.
Often a profound experience of experiencing the moment and a different perspective on the sense of self, floating also has lasting physical benefits. Pain relief is a frequent result, as is an improvement in mental clarity and a decrease in anxiety.
