Foraging

This is the future. Empty buildings can be retrofitted with vertical stacks of trays where plants grow. Light comes from lamps powered by wind and solar. In a small space, you can raise enough food to feed everyone for two blocks. At the end of the two blocks, put another vertical farm. No fuel is spent distributing the food. This is not THE ANSWER but it’s a start. Talk about it.

The Trillium Center is a place to learn about herbalism, foraging for wild food and medicine, and resilience. Learn at your own pace or follow the seasons with online courses. Short courses and long courses. Beginners courses and advanced courses. Free and paid courses with payment plans.

Lorenzo Hosts foraging classes and wild food lunches or dinners in the Central Ohio Area.
Guests will meet the wild ingredients in an hour-long walk, followed by a culinary exploration of foraged, local, and high-quality ingredients.

You may shop at the farmers’ market, support local restaurants, or make purchases based on the sustainability of the food you eat. But there’s nothing more sustainable than harvesting the food that’s growing right beneath your feet. Plus, it’s just plain fun.
