About Us

Dayton Healing Arts is a directory. We are introducing new ideas or providing connections.

Here we are looking at Healing as an art, distinct from science but not in opposition.

Art in all forms is intended to communicate, to engage. It acts on the senses, affects our thoughts, stirs our emotions, and awakens our spirits. And so it is with the Healing Arts. It is intended to make us better. That is our intention, too.

Western Medicine is science-based. There are disciplines and hierarchies with clearly defined requirements. There is licensing and certification in the practice of medicine. There are clinical trials before anything such as drugs, equipment, or procedures are approved. Nearly everything must be approved. The practitioner or prescriber should not matter. All of this is to deliver predictable, trustworthy results. Of course, there are exceptions, but it tends to produce many good results.

Science is about experimentation, recording results, generating data, and reaching conclusions. As it is applied, there is an expected outcome.

Art is different than that. Often it is about inspiration, energies, contrasts, the right moment, intent and connection, spirit, and life force. There is no expectation in art that everyone will experience it in the same way. In Healing Arts, it is understood that it will work for some and not for others. Everyone is different.

Healing Art is personal.

Science - and the practice of medicine - is impersonal by design.

Everything has a place.

We are simply here to communicate. We are not here to judge.
